     It was a balmy April evening. Excitement filled the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel in anticipation of the red carpet arrival of movie, TV and recording stars along with political dignitaries, social and business VIP’s. This was the 2017 Erasing the Sigma Leadership Awards presented by The Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services. This annual affair is always elegant, first class and serves as a fund raiser.

This year’s ceremony was hosted and emceed by TV personality Melissa Rivers. Singer/Songwriter/Author/Activist icon Judy Collins was honored with the Beatrice Stern Media Award. In addition, Ms. Collins did a special performance to the audience’s delight. Writer/Director/Composer/Film Maker Paul Dalio received a Leadership Award. His debut feature film “Touched With Fire,” was based on his true life experience as a person with bi-polar disorder. Actress/Producer/Filmmaker/Writer Anna Akana was honored as Didi Hirsch’s Mental Health Ambassador for using her popular YouTube channel to promote about mental illness.

      Presenters included actor George Segal (The Goldbergs) and actor Maurice Benard (General Hospital). Wendy Liebman conducted the Live Auction which more than met their financial goal.
