“Lay It On Me” has also earned praise from music critics, with Nylon raving: “Vance Joy continues to explore the depths of his soul in this new acoustic earworm,” while TIME declared it “a folksy, acoustic tune…that builds irresistibly to a chorus replete with joyous horns” in their weekly “5 Songs You Need to Listen to This Week,” adding, “‘Lay It On Me’ finds a happy medium of easy melody and emotional depth.”
Last week, Vance Joy filmed a special episode of PBS’ Emmy-nominated “Live From The Artists Den” in Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA, slated to debut in 2018. A sneak peek of the episode will be available online to fans via live photos captured during the taping.
“Lay It On Me” marks Vance Joy’s first release since the hugely successful RIAA certified platinum album Dream your life away, which recently surpassed one million in consumption in the US, and featured “fire and the flood,” the platinum song “Mess Is Mine,” and the 4x platinum “Riptide.” Based on the success of those songs, Vance Joy was the #1 Most Played Artist at Alternative radio in 2015, the same year he served as direct support on Taylor Swift’s “1989 World Tour.”
The following year, his headline tour, the “fire and the flood tour” sold more than 170,000 tickets combined. As an artist, Vance Joy has surpassed one billion cumulative streams across platforms. In addition to being nominated for an MTV VMA for “Artist to Watch,” Vance Joy was the recipient of International Songwriting Competition’s Grand Prize with a perfect score as well as ASCAP’s “Pop Work of the Year” for “Riptide.”
Support for the fall tour comes from fellow vocalists Amy Shark and Chappell Roan. Shark, a Gold Coast, Australia-based musician has hit the ground running with the enormous success of her brooding, coming-of-age single “Adore.”
That track, which is Top 20 at AAA radio in the US, surpassed 22 million streams on Spotify, was #1 on the Australian iTunes and Shazam charts, came in at #2 on triple j’s Hottest 100, reached Top 5 at Spotify Australia and is certified double Platinum in Australia.
Chappell Roan is a 19 year old singer/songwriter who pens lyrics about loss, love, and heartbreak; all of which are evident on her debut EP for Atlantic Records, “School Nights,” out September 15th. Her debut single “Good Hurt,” immediately intoxicates with its darkly blissful pop fused melodies, illuminating her dynamic voice and vivid lyricism. The single, along with the compelling music video, premiered via Interview Magazine who called it “a strong indicator of her imminent popularity.”
Atlantic
recording artist Vance Joy has announced a fall headline tour. The dates – his
first in the US since last year’s “Fire
and the flood Tour 2016” sold out venues across the country – get underway
September 30th at The
Showbox Market in Seattle, WA and extend through late October (see attached
itinerary). Fan pre-sales are on going. For complete details,
please visit www.vancejoy.com.
These
upcoming dates will mark the final additions to Vance Joy’s world tour which
has already instantly sold out in Australia, England, and Canada. The tour will
celebrate his newest single, “Lay It
On Me,” available now for streaming and download here.
The track, which was the most added song at Alternative and Triple A radio for
the first two weeks after its release, is currently climbing the top 15 on
the Alternative charts (#12 and rising) and has reached #6 on Triple A. The
video for the song – directed by Mimi
Cave (Sylvan Esso, tune-yArDs)
and co-starring Westworld’s Angela Sarafyan – is streaming now
at Vance Joy’s official YouTube channel.

Vance
Joy spent much of this summer on the road, introducing fans to new songs with
festival performances at New York City’s Panorama, Toronto’s Wayhome Music
& Arts 2017, Detroit’s Mo Pop, Quebec City’s Festivent, Chicago’s
Lollapalooza, Montreal’s Osheaga, and San Francisco’s Outside Lands. “When
Vance Joy steps on stage at Panorama Festival in New York City, he’s beaming
from one ear to the other,” wrote DuJour. “He starts in on his catchy love
song ‘Mess Is Mine’ and the entire audience coos. Needless to say, the
Australian charmer had captivated the crowd for his entire set.” The
upcoming tour will see the singer-songwriter perform at this year’s ACL Music
Festival in Austin, TX, set for October 8th and 15th.
