Kan Wakan will release Phantasmagoria on October
13 and is proud to announce the album release show at The Moroccan Lounge (901 E. 1st St @
Vignes) on Thursday, October 12. The event will be a full band
performance of the ambitious three-LP movement in full at the new ‘little
brother’venue of the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles.
Kan Wakan is Bulgarian Born, L.A. based composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Gueorgi Livev and Phantasmagoria features special guests ranging from Avi Buffalo to the Sofia Philharmonic. The album is presented over multiple LPs and is a surreal sonic noir where formulas of down tempo electronica, orchestral ambience and widescreen, celestial soul are fused in adlicately constructed dance between the warmth of reality and the cool transience of dreams.
Linev has produced tracks for Moses Sumney and Thundercat and singles from Phantasmagoria have trickled out via praising debuts from The Fader, Pigeons & Planes, Consequence of Sound, NYLON and more. Linev says that the methodical arcs of each LP allow for the sonic movement of ideas to weave across each space like the path was marked on a map.
Just as "Kan Wakan" translates to both an arbitrary Lokota phrase for "Sun Dance" and the Tagalong word for "Interstellar," Linev's Phantasmagoria celebrates musical multiculturalism through dilated lenses deeply personal and astronomically vast.
