the 2017
Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film
Festival has wrapped for another year, the
film makers can chalk up another career building experience under their belts.
For some it’s back to the drawing board while for others it’s on to the next
step. Those who won prizes for their cinematic creative efforts can take pride
and satisfaction in knowing that their projects met the approval of their peers
and industry pros alike. This type of validation is a sure boost of
self-confidence and encouragement to anyone trying to make it in the shark
filled ocean called Hollywood.

This
year’s Best Vape Comedy, sponsored by Got Vape was won by
Georgia native, actress, comedienne, writer, director and producer Syd
Wilder who wrote the script and produced the film via her company Beyond My Wildest Dreams LLC. Wilder and Rob Janas co-directed the project. The title of
the short comedy film was “Fab Life Theresa XO.” It was
basically about a young lady who couldn’t make up her mind to do anything but
flip-flop over her bungled choices. The short is part of a web series by Wilder
who has written, produced and acted in 30 web series on her YouTube channel via
her own production company Beyond My Wildest Dreams LLC that
she started in 2014 which has attracted 60 million views. It is funny and
Wilder’s sexy, fine, stunning good looks turns up the heat with the humor.

Wilder
won a teen NCA National Cheerleader Championship on ESPN and as a world
class model has graced the covers and features of a bevy of fashion and beauty
magazines including Maxim, FHM, Ask Men, Sport Illustrated and more. 2016 saw her
listed on Ask Men’s Top 99 Crush List and Playboy’s Top 10 Hottest
YouTubers List giving notice to Hollywood starlets Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlett
Johansson, Emma Stone and Jennifer Lopez etc., that they will
need to move over and make room for one more on the superstar wagon. Wilder is
definitely on her way!

Wilder’s
prize included a beautiful trophy, a giant cash check, credit towards Got Vape Merchandise, studio rental from Truevision Entertainment and
software from Light Speed EPS. Obviously Wilder was floating on a cloud and
exclaimed, “I am so excited. I can’t believe I won. I was not expecting to win
at all and I am so honored and so grateful to be here, you have no idea that
check was huge. They gave me the biggest check and I said what is this.” So,
after basking in the spotlight of festival success, what is next? Wilder
explains, “I’m actually working on a pilot. I stay up every night until 5 AM
writing a pilot. I’m trying to sell it to HBO. I my deadline is June to finish
it.”

Will
Wilder enter her winning project into other film festivals? She laughs, “Yes I
will. I shot this in 2015 so I wasn’t expecting it to win obviously but I
wasn’t expecting it to go anywhere because it didn’t do great on YouTube or
anything. So it’s like oh, OK, I’ll just cut some stuff together and funny
enough I chose a Vape theme because it was a Vape sponsorship, not thinking
that I would win. Because I was looking at all the other contestants and
thinking their stuff is so much better than mine there’s no way in hell I’m
winning! But now that I know what other people are doing – hell yeah, I’m
entering more competitions, hell yeah, I’m going to edit it better. So, I’m
real excited.”
