The Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film Festival

Closed on A High Note!


     The 2nd Annual Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film Festival is now in the books as it came to a fabulous and successful close. The action started with an opening night power panel which was presented in partnership with Mixknowledgy at the Adults Only club located on the world famed Sunset Strip in Hollywood. The house was packed with film makers and industry pros from all walks of the biz. Jennifer Buonantony of Press Pass LA., served as the moderator for the evening. The all-star panel included:


Kali Hawk - Actress (Bridesmaids, 50 Shades of Black),
Steve Mallory - Writer (The Boss starring Melissa McCarthy),
Ava Tramer - Writer (TBS's Angie Tribeca),
Raja Collins - Producer (Netflix's True Memoirs of an International Assassin),
Kabir Akhtar - Director/Editor (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend),
Julian Doan & Alex Hunter - Creators (Project Greenlight Digital Studios' Everyone I Love Is Dead). 

Opening Night Celeb Panelist

      The Festival was presented by Bit Pix and screened over 110 Short films from several comedic categories such as Dark Comedy, Web Series and Cringe to name some, over Saturday and Sunday, April 15 – 16, 2017 at the TCL Chinese 6 Theaters in Hollywood. Films from the official selections included (High Road by Justin Harwood) starring Emma Thompson; Linda Hamilton (Shoot Me Nicely by Elias Plagianos); Eric Boccio’s (Wiretap Scars) featuring Mike Starr, Samm Levine, Kevin Pollak and Scott Murphy. Rounding out the selected titles were Neil Patrick and Harris: The Chronicles of Conjoined Triplets by Adam Fynke; and Jesse Eisenberg Uses the Urinal by Alec Brown. 


     At the conclusion of Sunday’s screening, the awards were handed out via a ceremony that was hosted by stand-up comedian Brian Swinehart who created the mood funny and made receiving the prizes even more exciting. The festival’s objective is promote officially accepted films and their makers to the next career level. This year’s winners included:


     Oates's Death In Bloom took home the top prize of Best of Fest and won an exclusive meeting with fest partner Project Greenlight Digital Studios. Best Vape Comedy Award went to Syd Wilder and Rob Janas, they took home cash and credit for GotVape merchandise.

   

     The festival also announced it's dates for next year's festival which will take place April 19-22, 2018 in Hollywood. All winning  filmmakers receive a Studio Rental from Truevision Entertainment & Software from Lightspeed EPS. The online screenings of the official are still on BITPIX exclusively for one more week. During the festival special guests included Kali Hawk, Adam Scott, digital platform Whohaha among others.
